Rep. Nathan Cooper (R-BluntWorld), one of Governor Matt Blunt's top lieutenants in the state legislature, plead guilty to felonies today, stemming from a fraudulent scheme to create shell companies and to obtain visas for illegal workers. Fired Up! has previously reported on instances of fraud committed by Cooper, his success in obtaining appointments from Governor Matt Blunt, and his role in Blunt's fee office scheme.
Cooper also carried Governor Blunt's water on the effort in 2006 to interfere with Missourians right to vote by creating a voter ID requirement. Ironically, Blunt and Cooper claimed the effort was to reduce the risk of fraud.
Sources tell Fired Up! that Cooper will resign from the legislature as part of his plea deal.
