Director of Major Gifts
POSITION OVERVIEW
KDHX 88.1 FM is seeking a full time Director of Major Gifts to work with the executive management to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive fund development program from private sources to support the activities of a mid-sized nonprofit. Components within the program include identification of private funding needs and solicitation of private support from individuals, corporations and foundations. Previous fundraising experience is required and database and online fundraising experience is helpful. This job requires the ability to personally cultivate relationships in the community that will yield revenue and strategic opportunities. This job posting will be open through January 25, 2009.
Responsibilities:

Plan, direct and administer a major gifts program including all private, corporate, and foundation giving (annual gifts >$1,000) and is responsible for achieving objectives critical to the overall success of the major donor support for the organization;

Work with executive staff to establish budget goals, define fundraising needs and develop strategies to reach them;

Develop, plan and coordinate Major Gifts cultivation and recognition events;
*
Monitor, advise on, and recommend innovative programs and alternatives to meet goals;
*
Articulate organization mission, vision and values in an accurate and compelling manner in face-to-face meetings, public presentations and printed materials;
*
Establish and maintain a donor cultivation cycle and gift stewardship program to ensure that new major donors are developed, have opportunities to increase their level of support annually and enjoy a close relationship to the station;

Coordinate Major Gifts cultivation and recognition events;
*
Maintain major donor prospect and donor records.
Qualifications:
*
Bachelor's degree;
*
Demonstrated success in major gifts at a university, public broadcasting, museum or other non-profit;
*
Knowledge of individual, corporate, and foundation fundraising techniques and program development to include all aspects of proposal development, prospect identification, fund solicitation, endowments, and donor tracking.
*
Track record of fundraising ability, drive and enthusiasm to identify problems, recommend strategies and solutions in a timely manner;
*
Exceptional team-building and interpersonal skills, including the ability to create personal relationships and to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), with a variety of stakeholders;
*
Computer proficiency;
*
Excellent organizational, research, communications and development abilities.
