Despite Shameless Admin Spin, MOHELA Initiative Not Going "As Planned"

Alyson Raletz of the St. Joseph New Press has a piece today that notes reaction to recent news that MOHELA has been unable to make expected payments for higher education building projects.  As we've written about here at length, the sale of MOHELA's assets at Matt Blunt's request has left the entity cash-poor and without the resources to make scheduled payments.

As the story notes (emphasis added):

The MOHELA board decided to pay only $2.7 million of its recent quarterly payment, scheduled for $5 million, into the Lewis and Clark Discovery Initiative Fund.

Blunt administration spokesperson Jessica Robinson offered this in response:

The $335 million secured to benefit Missouri classrooms, students and institutions will be distributed as planned,” she said.

Funding may well be distributed "as planned" but the program has certainly not gone as planned.  No matter what Blunt's spin team says, the entire story is premised on the fact that MOHELA didn't make its planned payment

Important to remember, I think, as Blunt and the GOP try to weasel out of their mistakes by moving the goalposts.
