Ameren UE takes money from First Time Home Buyers!

Please read this article and tell me the Department of Economic Development is NOT an oximoron!

I served as a panelist two years at the Governor's Conference on Affordable Housing under Governor Carnahan.  I am furious at the thought of Ameren exhausting the bond authority for the State of Missouri to clean up their environmental problem in Alton.  I googled "Alton Missouri" and I don't see any reference to a coal-burning power plant run by Ameren (hummm-must be Alton Illinois).  So I guess that means that Missouri tax-exempt bond authority will be granted ($250,000,000) to Ameren UE so that they can  correct their environmental  issues (in another state).  Why does Ameren need this bond authority more than MHDC?  At least MHDC uses this bond authority to create home ownership opportunity in Missouri for Missouri residents.  With the increasingly deteriorating economic conditions (THANK YOU MATT), it would be most beneficial to use the bond authority for mortgage funds for first time home buyers.  There are builders statewide suffering from this economy.  When will these non-thinking, self-serving individuals in charge realize that the economy is driven by real estate, construction, the durable goods associated with home construction?

Oh, I forgot, that does not matter, or they don't get it......I AM MAD AS HELL!

Citizens of Missouri - WAKE UP and start calling and telling your state senators and representatives that Ameren can use their own $250,000,000 to clean up their problems in Alton.

WE NEED ECONOMIC STIMULUS.  MHDC CAN AND WILL DO THAT.  AMEREN SHOULD USE THEIR OWN MONEY TO CORRECT THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.  AMEREN CAN DEDUCT THEIR COSTS.  $250,000,000 IS NOTHING TO AMEREN.  BUT IT IS ALOT OF HOMES THAT COULD BE FINANCED AFFORDABLY IN MISSOURI FOR MISSOURI CITIZENS.
