Which of the following comes closest to your view of Sen. Chris Koster's decision to switch parties and run for AG as a Democrat

It's a sad testament to Governor Matt Blunt's failed leadership of the MO GOP.
18% (161 votes)
Koster is a political opportunist who realized he couldn't win a Republican primary statewide.
60% (539 votes)
Koster's a talented guy with a bright future as a Democrat.

Grow up!

I live in Koster's District.  Frankly, I am happy he is now a Democrat.

He was clearly one of the Republican's rising stars and his party moved so far right he couldn't stay in.

We should be thrilled and now ask the few "moderate" Republicans how they can remain in the Republican Party.

I am reminded of the fact

that I was not born a democrat.  I became one.  Maybe its time to consider the possibility that, unless or until he proves otherwise, Koster has too?

!!!Koster!!!

This is the Koster that environmentalists were up against, whose Senate Bill was to remove local control of Cities and Counties to protect water and air resources against CAFO intrusions? Whose pocket is he in? This is the Koster who wants to "fast-track" his political career, right? Party Loyalty be damned to achieve his PERSONAL objectives? Koster is not about Public Service. I may be naive, but dyeing the skunk won't change its odor; I claim trespass against Koster.

I have mixed feelings about Koster's conversion

On the one hand, it's great to have another Democrat in the State Senate to help hold the line against Matt Blunt.  He seems to have a good record on at least some Democratic issues.

But rather than paying his dues and toiling for a while in the local parish that is the State Senate, he is immediately announcing that he wants to be... a Cardinal.   That is a little unsettling.

We will see how true believer Democrats react.

Great!

That was my first, second, and third reaction.  I have few serious complaints about Senator Koster regarding his voting record.  I believe changing parties will free him to break away from the "anti-choice, anti-education" platform of the Republicans. I am not sure about his chances for the primary for AG on the Democratic side either.  I wouldn't mind keeping him my senator for another term just to test his mettle. The Democrats are the real winners here.

Another shoe?

I think Koster is an articulate and principled guy. Don't know how he would do in a primary for A.G. But I would rather have him on our side then theirs. I hear another GOP Senator has told Koster they will also switch and will announce it during veto session.

The other shoe

I went to the press conference today in Cass County.  Only a hard-shelled cynic or a jilted Republican could think Koster is not sincere about the painful process it is to change parties.  He totally blasted the Republicans and I am curious how the local stations will handle it.  If the KC Star prints his speech, there won't be a dry eye in the house.  Thanks for sticking up for him.
