GOP Legislator Predicts Bond Resignation
Buried halfway down in a St. Joseph News-Press story today about reaction to the Blunt announcement comes this bold gem of a prediction:
Rep. Jim Guest, R-King City,
predicts that U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, also will step down soon
for health reasons. If U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, Matt Blunt’s father, is
appointed to the senatorial post, Mr. Guest said he believes the
current Missouri governor will go after the congressional seat.
Perhaps Kit Bond himself would care to comment on the record about the nature of the "health reasons" that have fellow Republicans speculating openly in the newspaper that he will "step down" from his United States Senate seat?

Stepping Down?
I thought he was dead.
Robin Carnahan
I would like to see Robin Carnahan replace Bond. I hope she will continue as the Secretary of State and then run in 2010 against Bond or whoever has the senate seat Bond now holds.
Makes no sense
I find it hard to believe Bond will resign.
In what appears to be a very good Democratic year, that will put one more Republican seat in play. And, Robin Carnahan will be impossible for any Republican to beat.
If Papa Blunt is the Senator, then Robin Carnahan will win in a walk.
Bond's resignation
It would be a real shocker if he did resign. I sent him a letter suggesting that he resign some time ago after he said that waterboarding was like learning to swim. No respone from his office.
He has been bought and paid for by the big corporations, so I doubt that he would give it all up. The perks are great, and he is one of their biggest patsies.
One more thing...
Did we ever get satisfactory answers as to just how, exactly, he can afford the monthly nut on that place he bought when wifey decided our mansion wasn't good enough for her?

The Boy Blunder's ignomonious end
I still think the announcement, sudden as it was, precludes an indictment. I am just waiting for him to take a vacation to Texas, where Ronnie Earle still has a grand jury empaneled in the Abramoff/DeLay issue. We hadn't returned to MO to stay yet in 2000, so I'm not totally up to speed, but wasn't there something specious about donations to the campaign for his 2000 SoS run?

Not for family reasons
If Blunt did drop his reelection campaign in order to take his father's house seat in Southwest Missouri then that means he was lying about dropping his campaign in order to spend more time with his family.
Unless Blunt thinks the Washington D. C. Commute will give him more family time. Then again, his wife is from the east coast so maybe he will spend more time with her and her family.
But really, can Blunt pull himself away from Springfield, MO?
Blunt
What's new about him lying?
You are correct KCChieffan
You are correct KCChieffan, there is nothing new about Blunt, or members of the Blunt/Kinder axis lying. I guess the actual point I was trying to make was, "look out, I think Blunt is telling another lie."
