Kinder joins Astroturf opposition to real health care reform
Even though 70% of people support a public option to expand access and drive down health care costs, Peter Kinder has chosen to sign on with Carl Bearden's Astroturf anti-reform group, Americans for Prosperity, to oppose Congress' work on real health care reform.
This morning, Kinder "forwarded" an email from Americans for Prosperity, asking recipients to visit Bearden's industry-funded PatientsUnitedNow.com website. Bearden first began publicizing the website last week while arguing via Twitter that there are only actually 7-10 million "truly uninsured" Americans. (There are actually almost 50 million, but Carl doesn't seem to get hung up on things like "facts.")
Ironically, Kinder's email is almost exactly as long as the health care reform plan memo Roy Blunt took five months to draft.
Here's the full message:
Dear Friends,
I received the following email and wanted to share it with you. Now more than ever it is vital that you find out all you can about healthcare and the problems a government run healthcare will cause.
Friends: Your help and action are needed! On Saturday, July 11th, Americans for Prosperity will host a Health Care Rally to warn citizens about the dangers of government controlled healthcare. When you took part in the Tea Parties, Washington paid attention. As Americans, we need to speak just as forcefully on this issue.
We need your presence and I need, as always, volunteers! The event will only be an hour in length and the location details are as follows. Please make your voices heard!
As always, thanks in advance for your help. YOU make a difference!! Please let me know asap if you can help out Saturday morning.
Michelle
The rally is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 at 10 AM. We have reserved Memorial Park, which is the courtyard between the St. Louis County Police HQ and the County Courts building in downtown Clayton. It is on the corner of S. Central Ave. and Carondelet.

Together We Can Make a DifferenceJoin our national coalition to oppose a government takeover of health care and put patients first!
Do you want Washington politicians to take away your right to choose your doctors and hospitals?
Do you want to be forced into a one-size-fits-all government health care plan?
Do you want all your private medical records put into an interactive government database by 2014?
Do you want such a system to “guide” your doctor in his or her treatment decisions?
Do you want Washington to “cut costs” by delaying and denying your care?
We don’t either. We are PatientsUnitedNow.com.
If you doubt that many of these changes are ALREADY PART OF THE LAW, PASSED IN THE STIMULUS, please check out our website now. If you would like to learn about the worst policies NOW BEING DISCUSSED IN WASHINGTON, check us out. We need your help in spreading the word about the stealthy attempts from Washington politicians to take control of our health care.
Real health care reform should focus on cutting bureaucratic waste and providing access to more treatments with less interference from politicians and special interests. Real reform must keep patients firmly in charge of their own care.
We can’t let Washington take over our health care and get between us and our doctors.
Patients United Now is a coalition of grassroots organizations and individuals opposed to a takeover of our health care by Washington and committed to making sure that the voices of patients are heard and that patients like us are at the center of health care reform.
Please come to our site, see the videos and help us spread the word. We can win, but we need your help!
