Last night in the debate between President Obama and Mitt Romney, there was an incredible exchange where Mitt Romney all but called the president a liar to his face regarding the president's previous comments saying he had called the attack on our consulate in Benghazi an act of terror the day after it occured. The debate's moderator, Candy Crowley, fact-checked Romney in real time and affirmed that the president had indeed referred to the Benghazi attack as an act of terror. The full exchange is below:
Immediately, Romney supporters made multiple charges: that this fact check was false, that Obama did NOT in fact call the Benghazi attack an act of terror, that Crowley was interferring int he debate. Even Birther Tim, Speker of the Missouri House, denier of President Obama's birth certificate, got in on the action, claiming that Crowley was "in the tank" for the president and that Obama had not called the attack an act of terror:
But you see, here's the problem, the transcript from President Obama's remarks in the Rose Garden the day after tragedy struck that Mitt Romney and his lackeys take issue with clearly show that the president referred to the attacks on our consulate as an act of terror:
No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.
So there you have it. Mitt Romney failed in his attack on the president's leadership on Libya, and on full display was his callousness in attempting to turn a national tragedy into a political football.
And then there's Birfer Tim, Transcript Truther, who continues down a path of being unable to accept facts for what they are: FACTS.
