The Associated Press: "A jury convicted an associate of the corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff of bribing public officials with expensive meals and tickets to exclusive events. The associate, Kevin Ring, was found guilty on five counts involving conspiracy, honest services fraud and giving an illegal gratuity to an aide of former Attorney General John Ashcroft. Also Monday, he was found not guilty on three other charges. Mr. Ring was the only lobbyist who took his case to court in the sweeping investigation; others reached plea deals. After an earlier jury deadlocked on whether Mr. Ring was guilty, he was retried."
