Reince Preibus

Instead of focusing on the first full day of the Republican National Convention and formally nominating Mitt Romney for president, RNC Chair Reince Preibus seems to think that melting down over Rep. Todd Akin's continued refusal to drop out of the Missouri Senate race and disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Missouri voters is more important.

From Talking Points Memo: “He could be tied,” Priebus told conservative bloggers Ben Howe and Chris Loesch in a video posted on Monday. “We’re not gonna send him a penny.”

In response, Akin's campaign sent out a release slamming the RNC chairman:

“Reince Priebus’ comments are extremely dissappointing [sic],” said Akin campaign manager Perry Akin, who is also Todd Akin’s son. “He claims the mantle of freedom, liberty and the good of America, but this betrays his apparent personal vendetta against Todd Akin. He is putting party power and political games ahead of the good of the country.”

Looks like Hurricane Todd is parked over Tampa and continues to lash the RNC convention with no end in sight.
