If you happen to find yourself in Park City, Utah on July 27, you too can attend the ALEC Missouri Night Reception & Dinner. Or maybe not as it looks to be invitation only, but that doesn't mean that incoming Speaker, Birther Tim Jones, and outgoing Sen. Jane Cunningham, who is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Students Rhee First won't be there, their attendance quite likely made possible by your tax dollars. Of course, they'll be there to learn all the newest ways to screw over Missourians and how to better serve their corporate overlords. Remember, ALEC is the organization that brought us the Stand Your Ground legislation which has allowed George Zimmerman to claim self-defense in the shooting death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.
Looking at Missouri, you'll see that ALEC's fingerprints are all over legislation in Jefferson City including Right to Work (for Less), Tim Jones' Parent Trigger Act, Jane Cunningham's Freedom of Choice in Healthcare Act, and Missouri's own stand your ground law introduced by Kenny Jones.
It would seem that even with major corporations like Wal-Mart and even legislators dropping their membership in ALEC, but that doesn't seem to stop folks like Tim Jones, John Diehl, Caleb Jones, Jason Smith and others from letting ALEC and big business to continue to do their work for them and write legislation that's bad for Missouri.
You are cordially invited to the American Legislative Exchange Council
